Learn how a starter motor works below:
Starter Motors

Did you know before starter motors engines were starter with wind up springs!

The starter motor ignites the engine which then continues to run on its own. The starter motor has only one function which is the first and second rotations the engine needs to continue operating.

When you turn the key or press the button, the voltage from the battery goes throught to the starter control circuit to activate the solenoid. The solenoid powers the starter motor which pushes the starter gear forward to mesh with the engine flywheel. The flywheel, which is mounted to the engine crankshaft, spins and as soon as the engine starts, the system disengages from the flywheel and continues to run.
